Meghan Markle and Narcissism

This video makes a good case that Meghan Markle is a narcissist.

I do not find it quite convincing. I still think it is not possible for a narcissist to be a good actor or actress. While Meghan Markle might not be a great actress, she has to be good to have had her career. Sleeping with producers can only get you so far.

The examples in the video compilation of a narcissistic smirk are not clear or unambiguous. The matter is complicated by the fact that Markle has been a committed feminist from an early age. Feminism encourages a narcissistic attitude in women, and even the trademark narcissistic smirk. You see it in the typical modern animated heroine when she is looking empowered.

Accordingly, Markle, an actress, a natural mimic, may have been influenced to this, without it being an expression of her own character. It may simply be the way she thinks she should behave. The same goes for examples of her taking precedence over Harry, or seeming to give him directions. Feminism may be behind it. And Harry may prefer it; every couple has their own dynamic. Taking the leadership role is not by itself narcissistic; it can often require self-sacrifice.

I am also shy of accepting such claims because the UK seems full of PR flaks whose specialty is spreading slurs in the case of domestic disputes. We saw it when Diana and Charles separated. We saw it when Paul McCartney split from Heather Mills.

Since there is such a tradition in England, one must take all such claims as in need of salt.
