According to a study reported in the Daily Telegraph.
This strikes me as exactly right from my own experience. If you are spiritual but have not embraced a specific tradition, you are like someone caught with one foot on the dock, and another in the boat. You are going to be torn in two irreconcilable directions, pulled one way by the demands of the world and the other by the demands of God. Been there, and known a lot of other people in that dilemma.
You have to make Kierkegaard's "leap of faith." You gotta serve somebody. You gotta be whole-hearted.
