A Theory for Why the World Seems Mad Right Now

Here’s a unified theory of why governments around the world seem in the last few years to have gone mad and turned on their own citizens. Despite the obvious electoral risks of doing so.

It all seemed to start visibly going off the rails in about the Fall of 2021. It was well understood by then that the Covid vaccines did not halt the spread of the virus; and that we could never achieve herd immunity through vaccinations. Yet it was at that point that governments began to demand that everyone must get vaccinated.

Unless I have missed something, this was the first obviously illogical and malicious move by governments.

Others followed:

Cracking down on long-distance truck drivers, demanding they in particular must be vaccinated, or lose their livelihood. Why? They rarely came in contact with anyone, alone in their trucks. And at the very time that we were facing a supply chain crisis due to the Covid lockdowns.

Cracking down on medical personnel, insisting they must get vaccinated or lose their livelihood. Granted, they came into close contact with the unwell; but we already knew the vaccines did not prevent the spread, and they were uniquely qualified to make their own decisions on their personal health. This at the very time when emergency rooms were supposed to be facing a crisis of overcrowding with Covid cases.

Insisting that children all be vaccinated. Even though herd immunity was not possible, and they faced no real risk themselves from the virus—and obviously some risk from the vaccine.

Insisting everyone stay indoors long after it was established that the virus spread better indoors than outdoors.

Suppressing any talk of cures or treatments other than the vaccine; even though some cheap and widely available drugs showed much promise.

Suppressing any warnings about dangers associated with the vaccines.

Then the weird overreaction to a peaceful demonstration by truckers in Ottawa.

Then they went after farmers, and the use of fertilizers—just as food prices were spiraling upwards due to inflation and interrupted supply chains.

In Canada, they then started raising exponentially their “carbon tax.” Effectively a tax on everything, just as inflation was going out of control.

Then they kicked the immigration doors wider open, a lot wider open, in the middle of an unprecedented housing crisis; and a crisis over health care availability. And just as studies were showing that mass immigration harms rather than helps the economies of receiving nations.

Then, in Canada, draconian measures to silence and punish dissent, and withdraw basic civil rights to do so. Similar initiatives seem to have arisen at the same time in England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, former bastions of the free speech tradition, and just about across the developed world. In the US, unprecedented and open attempts to rig the next election and suppress the political opposition.

I have probably missed a lot.

Occam’s razor suggests this explanation: the governments panicked over Covid, and grossly overreacted. The lockdowns killed more people than the virus would have, on top of the economic devastation and personal loss. The virus itself was engineered, and recklessly, and several goverments were responsible, not just China. They saw that this was going to come out, it was a huge scandal, and they anticipated that their publics would turn on them.

They knew too by September that the vaccines they had hastily approved and encouraged everyone to get had dangerous side effects, worse than Covid itself, and also were not effective.

The truth must be worse than we yet know: so bad that they not only fear losing power. That is routine for democratic governments. The truth must be so terrible, they fear worse than this: revolution, serious criminal charges once they leave office, perhaps the guillotine.

Mudh of this, I suspect, is instinctive rather than planned. But if true, it seems to explain everything.

Once they knew the vaccines were harmful, it might well have seemed in their interest to have everyone vaccinated. This might mask the issue: there would be no control group. Truckers and farmers had to be targeted, because they were least likely to see the need for the vaccine, and most able to avoid the government’s demands. Farmers can be self-sufficient more or less off the grid; truckers can flee the jurisdiction. Health professionals need to be bullied into it, because they can raise the alarm.

Other measures, like the rising carbon tax and the mass immigration, look like pre-emptive strikes against their expected future enemies, the public. Good idea to import a large body of new people who will not blame them for the vaccinations, not having been here at the time, and have reason for gratitude to the government for being let it, and given hotel rooms, social assistance and the like. Who else might stand up for them when the flag drops?

Seatbelts, everyone.

Lost in the Land of Frogs

Dr. Theresa Tam is calling for us all to get masked up once again, and take a new vaccine. Covid is back.

This might seem odd, given that studies now show that wearing a mask does nothing to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, and previous vaccines seem to have done more harm than good. So why would Tam give such apparently bad advice?

Some are inclined o believe there is a government conspiracy here to get us all accustomed to taking orders.

I say, never ascribe to malice what can more easily be explained by a fairy tale.

The relevant fable here is Aesop’s, of the frogs who wanted a king.

The frogs were tired of governing themselves. So they sent a petition to Zeus asking for a king.

To keep them quiet and make them think they had a king he threw down a huge log, which fell into the water with a great splash. The frogs hid themselves among the reeds and grasses, thinking the new king to be some fearful giant. But in a short time the younger frogs were using him for a diving platform, while the older frogs made him a meeting place, where they complained loudly to Zeus about the government.

So Zeus now sent down a crane to be king of frogland. He gobbled up the poor frogs right and left.

At last the frogs believed they had a real king, and were content.

The government knows a new strain of the virus is coming. A lot of people are likely to get sick. Some will die. And the people will raise a hue and cry, “Zeus, why didn’t the government do something?” So the government takes some random but plausible action, ideally something that sounds drastic. People will still sicken and die, but the government will not be blamed. Best too to propose something that requires general compliance. Then the government can scapegoat the public for not doing it, or at least not all doing it—for inevitably, not all will do it.

The frogs fall for it every time.

For the same reason, you are never going to leave a doctor’s office without some prescription.

Another similar story also in the news: the Peel Regional School Board has been pulling all the books from school libraries that were published before 2008, and sending them off to landfill, n the premise that nothing written before that date is “inclusive.”

This sounds like something out of 1984, an attempt to memory hole our past.

But the more likely explanation is simpler. The provincial government issued a directive that school libraries cull any book that is not “inclusive,” with special attention to books published before 2008.

Now, what is a school librarian to do? What is and is not “inclusive” is subjective, and what counts as “inclusivity” seems to change hourly. A current example: Disney decided the politically safe move was to remove the dwarfs from their Snow White remake, because they were told by one dwarf this was an obnoxious stereotype. Now they are under the gun for excluding dwarf actors.

In any case, reading or researching every book in the library in order to make an informed judgment of this sort would require a lot of dog work and a lot of mental effort.

The safe and convenient move, is to scrap anything published before 2008. People can’t object to what isn’t there.

Unfortunately, it turns out that empty shelves also look bad.

Denial in the News

We are seeing currently what denial looks like.

Sometimes it is caused by a guilty conscience, as when Adam and Eve hid from God in the bushes of the Garden of Eden. Sometimes it happens when one has been lied to for a long time. One finds it difficult to accept this; it is too disorienting. It is the “sunk costs” fallacy: if I have spent $200,000 on the car, it must be a great car. As someone once said, it is easier to fool someone than to get them to admit they have been fooled.

We are seeing this sort of denial in the general refusal to notice the high excess death rates since the Covid vaccine was rolled out, and the many younger people dying of myocarditis.

Of course governments have a vested interest in suppressing this. Of course the drug companies do. And both government and the drug companies put a great deal of money into advertising in the media. So the media too will suppress it.

But I think we are seeing it among ordinary people as well. Tim Poole reports others reacting violently when he raises the possibility that the deaths might be due to the vaccine. Denial normally becomes violent when challenged. Those who have been vaccinated cannot face the possibility that they made the wrong choice, that the vaccine might now be a time bomb moving through their veins. Even people who have already been diagnosed with myocarditis seem often to be in denial. They will ascribe it to a cold, for example. Rum luck. It is too hard to accept that they did it to themselves, by dutifully taking the word of the authorities. No doubt it is hardest for those who were most critical of the “anti-vaxxers.”

At times like these we discover who the honest people are, and who is delusional. The honest seem on present evidence to be an overall minority.

We see this in other things as well: the “mass graves at the residential schools” claim is now untenable. But nobody is covering it, and most people till assert it as if it is true. The “Trump was colluding with the Russians” hoax is untenable, but you still hear people insisting on it. And so forth.

It all makes life easy for con artists.

Dawn of the Dead

I feel as though Jacinda Ardern was the canary. Along with Damar Hamlin. I feel as though we are at a Stalingrad and Al Alamein moment. While not entirely visible yet, while the bad guys are actually at their furthest extent, they are overextended and desperate. I feel the tide is turning against the woke.

Reputedly Pope Benedict has a book coming out, held back to be published posthumously, in which he cuts loose. Now he may speak frankly about the corruption in the church. His secretary has just released a similar book. Cardinal Pell has been revealed posthumously as the author of a letter harshly criticizing Pope Francis and the wokening of the church. Their recent death actually gives Benedict and Pell added authority; a though they are martyrs, speaking from heaven.

Pope Francis is losing the moral high ground. The moral high ground matters; it is the whole battle.

Something similar is happening in US politics; with the admission that Hunter Biden’s laptop was authentic, and now the discovery of classified documents scattered around Biden’s offices and residences. It is more than a bit mysterious; since the documents are being uncovered in slow motion, in the presence of Biden’s lawyers, why is this happening? And how much of the truth are we really being allowed to see?

Most likely, this is a palace coup. Because, as with Ardern, the dark forces who control the Democratic Party see worse scandals coming down the pike, and need Biden as the pre-emptive scapegoat. He’s old, he’s had his time at the trough; time for him to take it for the team.

Everyone surely now realizes that Biden is, at a minimum, a habitual liar. Also probably deeply corrupt, and possibly working against the nation’s interest.

But it I not hard to guess what the coming scandal is that is requiring the defenestration of Ardern and Biden. It has to do with the Covid pandemic and the vaccine.

The collapse on the field of Damar Hamlin has similarly lifted the veil on the risks of the Covid vaccine. No more just a rumour some of us had heard; people are waking up as if from a dream. Suddenly everyone realized something was wrong. Scott Adams has now publicly admitted he was wrong to scoff at the anti-vaxx movement.

Worse, the virus itself came from a government lab, involving US government funding.

The ruling elite worldwide are revealed as responsible for the deaths of millions.

It is hard to see how any government that demanded vaccine mandates can now remain in power in any democratic country. Notably, in Canada, the truckers are vindicated, and Trudeau is revealed as a monster.

And he knew what he was doing. His hysterical reaction to the convoy shows that.

He, and the other leaders, no doubt did not intend the virus to escape, but they did exploit the crisis to try to seize more power and control over their people.

We now know, thanks to Elon Musk, that “big tech” and government were colluding to suppress dissent and control the political process. “Big pharma” was suppressing possible cures.

On the one hand, it is disorienting and frightening to discover that your government, and “the science,” and the media, and your electronic gadgets, and the church, cannot be trusted, and you might drop dead at any moment from a heart attack because your trusted them and got triple-vaccinated or more. The atmosphere feels almost surreal, apocalyptic.

On the other hand, although there is a terrible death toll, and it has not come to an end, this is the sensation brought on by sudden change, or sudden revelatory knowledge. There is an earthquake in our collective worldview.

I thought as of a couple of years ago that the Covid epidemic was working like a sudden flash of lightning in the dark, revealing where all the zombies are.

Now the aftermath feels almost like a new day dawning.

mRNA vaccine safety data

When someone like John Campbell is calling them out, you know they've done wrong.

I for one have become deeply disillusioned. When this pandemic began, I trusted the authorities to, in the end, be of good will.

I no longer belive this.

Myocarditis in Thailand

More disturbing evidence...

Why Are People Dying?

Dr. Campbell must choose his words carefully. But what if it turns out that, from about September of last year, from about the time that governments, including Canada's, were unaccountably imposing vaccine mandates, from about that time, the vaccines were killing more people than the virus?

There may be hell to pay if and when this gets out.

This may be why Trudeau wanted to call an election last fall--to grab a safe majority before the truth came out.

This may be why his government became so insistent that everyone be vaccinated at this point--to eliminate any control group to reveal the problem with the vaccine.

This may be why there are rumours Trudeau wants to call an election against this fall--for which he seems indeed to have been campaigning all summer.  Because they feel there is still a chance, if they move quickly, to grab a safe majority before the word gets out.

With a majority, at worst, they get four more years in power before they get cashiered. At best, they can manage and control the flow of information. Let someone else into power, without a vested interest in keeping all this quiet, and things could get much worse for them./

Okay, a conspiracy theory, but anyone who does not believe in conspiracies by now seems naive.

Excess Mortalities

Dr. Campbell has to speak carefully here due to censorship, but the implications are concerning.

Vaccines at this point look more dangerous than Covid.

A Scary Thought

The evidence is beginning to look damning: that the COVID vaccines were actually more dangerous, for most of us, than the virus itself.

This explains why many governments, including that of Canada, suddenly around last September became insistent that everyone must be vaccinated, and imposed vaccine mandates even on truckers  There was no medical case for this, even if the vaccines worked and were safe. All that was needed was to vaccinate the most vulnerable. It was an otherwise unnecessary violation of human rights.

I assume they knew by about September, if not before, that herd immunity was not possible through vaccination, that the vaccines did not prevent the virus's spread, and that the vaccines were riskier than advertised. Up to t his point, pushing the vaccine on everyone might have been an innocent mistake. The responsible thing to do then would have been to pull back on the vaccination program. But then they risked being held to account for all those who died unnecessarily due to the vaccine.

Rather than intake their lumps. the safer political path was to try to force everyone to vaccinate, to hide the terrible reality that people who were vaccinated were dying at a higher rate than people who were not vaccinated. This would also explain why Trudeau called a snap election in the middle of a pandemic, which the public saw as unnecessary. It was to get a solid mandate before the truth came out.

No wonder they react so badly to any mention of the Nuremberg Code. No wonder they resorted to the Emergency Act. No wonder they have suddenly gone so authoritarian. They figure if and when this hits the fan, they are in big trouble. They are like burglars doubling down by trying to kill the witnesses...

A frightening thought, but it does seem to explain the facts at a time when government actions otherwise seem bizarre.

"This Has Just Destroyed Faith in Authority"

Not a radical voice or a conspiracy theorist. Heretofore generally a supporter of medical and government authority.

A Journal of the Plague Decade

The amount of empty shelving at the local supermarket has become alarming. Picking up weekly needs has become hit and miss. For a time I was trying to make up the difference by visiting two or three supermarkets a week. But with Omicron raging, and of uncertain potency, I’m not sure it is worth it any longer. My estimate is that the weekly food bill has gone up 30%.

A Depressed World

The problem faced by governments now is a good model of what depression is all about. Not a “mental illness,” but a rational reaction to there being no good options available.

The Covid lockdowns are causing increasing economic devastation. The attempt to keep everyone afloat financially through them is causing increasing inflation. Government debt has piled up to the point that governments cannot afford measures to fight inflation. And yet, just as the end seemed again in sight, here we have another wave of the virus, more virulent and, as far as we can tell so far, as deadly. And resistant to the vaccines. If we do nothing, many may die, and we will have just the sort of chaos in the health system we wanted to avoid all along. As if all our effort until now was for nothing—we might as well have gone ahead and let the original virus spread.

And whatever the governments do, they are going to get blamed for the situation. They will be told they should have done the opposite.

And we have seen hopes dashed repeatedly. We thought we could end it all with the vaccines. Just as we seemed poised to have the virus under control, the Alpha variant popped up; and then the Delta variant. After Omicron, there may be yet another variant, and another wave.

This is just how depression develops—false dawns, hopes repeatedly dashed, and in the end, no good options. Blamed for whatever you do.

This most naturally comes about in a family situation in which a parent has made one or more child the scapegoat.

But here we see it happening naturally. My wife suggested, “It is as if God hates us.” And that is just what it looks like: like the situation of the hated child.

So You Thought It Was Over?

Is there really a bat in here?

Two bits of troubling information on Covid. First, confirmation that people who have previously had Covid can be reinfected with the Omicron variant. Second, 80% of a sampling of white-tail deer have or have had Covid. So Covid now has an “animal reservoir” from which to re-emerge forever in new variants, even if we eliminate it in the human population.

Pandora’s box is well and fully open now.

But as with Pandora’s box, one hope remains: that Omicron will be milder in its effects.

Hopeful News--or at Least, Hopeful Thought

While initial reports of the new Omicron variant of Covid were alarming, the news has more recently looked a little brighter. The South African doctor who first detected the strain says she has only seen mild cases.

If Omicron is extremely contagious yet causes only mild symptoms, it may actually work like a vaccine, quickly inoculating large populations.

Here’s hoping…

Armageddon Nervous

The news is coming in fast right now--about the new Omicron variant of COVID. It sounds as though it is far more virulent than the previous strains, as contagious as anything we’ve ever seen. Just when it looked as though we were about to come out of the pandemic, down we go again. I first heard of the new variant yesterday. Today, it is already reported from seven African countries, Belgium, Israel, Hong Kong, and South Korea. Hospitalizations in one South Africa province have doubled in the past day. The New York Times is running live updates.

Speculation is that it may be able to bypass the vaccinations, since it has mutated significantly. Nobody is prepared to say yet whether it is more or less deadly than previous strains. One doctor says lockdowns are not going to do much against this one.

Meantime, yesterday the abstract of a study was released suggesting that the mRNA vaccines significantly increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Stock markets are taking a hit.

It begins to feel as though we are in a downward spiral. It reminds me of the pace of Orson Welles’s radio version of War of the Worlds.
