Romney's Gender Gap

All the pundits, even on the right, seem worried about Romney's "gender gap": as I recall, he is trailing Obama by ten points among women.

Hmm--Romney and Obama are tied; women make up roughly fifty percent of the electorate; and Romney trails Obama by ten points among women. If I still remember my math, that has to mean Obama trails Romney by roughly ten points among men.

So why is it Romney who has the "gender gap" problem, and not Obama? Doesn't this assume that the votes of women are more important than the votes of men?

Why isn't sauce for the gander sauce for the goose?
